Kevin Ashton

I am Kevin J. Ashton, a British technology pioneer best known for coining the term "Internet of Things" (IoT). My work focuses on networked sensors and their transformative applications across industries. I introduced the IoT concept in 1999 while at Procter & Gamble, envisioning a world where sensors connect the physical world directly to the internet. I founded the Auto-ID Center at MIT, where I helped develop global standards for RFID and other sensor technologies. I am also the author of "How to Fly a Horse: The Secret History of Creation, Invention, and Discovery," a book that debunks the myths surrounding creative work and emphasizes a practical approach to innovation.
